Facebook Marketing For Banks and Credit Unions: Find Your Members on Facebook with Custom Audiences

As many of you may already know, you can make a Custom Audience in Facebook Ads Manager with an email list, which is an excellent way to target customers online. But there are other ways to match users on Facebook and significantly increase the number of members you match with custom audiences. In some cases, we grew the audience by 20%!

Here's how to easily find your customers on Facebook and Instagram; then you can engage more with them, even when they are NOT inside one of your branches!

When you pull your members list, we recommend you also include a few other details in your list. We selected email, first and last name, ZIP code and phone number. There are more identifiers that can help you match even more of your members...

Note: Make sure First and Last Name are in different columns!

To create a custom audience in ads manager, click "Audiences" on the top left hand corner and then click "Create Audience" > Custom Audience > Customer File

Then, upload your CSV file and map out the fields.

Note: Name your audience with enough detail so you know exactly what it is.

A full list of Facebook identifiers are:

    • Email
    • Phone Number
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • ZIP/Postal Code
    • City
    • State/Province
    • Country
    • Date of Birth
    • Year of Birth
    • Gender
    • Age

If you placed a Facebook Pixel on your website you can also create a Website Custom Audience. This is a list of people that have visited your website. Since a vast majority of these people are members that are logging into online banking or are looking for branches/business hours we suggest adding them to your member audience.
