Pet-Friendly Housing, The Newest Thing?

Financial Institution News & Information

We've heard of work places being pet-friendly but now Pet-Friendly Housing Developments Are a “Thing”?

American homebuilding companies are going to great lengths to offer unique features, and attract homebuyers in a crowded market. Their latest ploy: communities designed to be pet-friendly.

To appeal to pet owners, homebuilder Taylor Morrison is creating all sorts of innovations, including what they call Doggie Lifestyle Concierges, Lush Dog Parks, Pet Washing Stations and Designer Dog Houses.

The company has developed Dog Bone Park as “a sprawling open space for homebuyers' furry friends to run free and explore,” in a Denver development.

It is also offering built-in pet washing spas to make paw and fur cleanup hassle-free.

The builder's newest community in Chicago, Tallgrass, even includes a doggie shower for easy at-home pet pampering. A similar pet-washing station is available at the company’s Heritage at Vizcaya 55-plus community in Austin.

At Fulshear, Texas' Cross Creek Ranch, where both Taylor Morrison and Darling Homes build, a nearly one-acre dog park called Canine Commons offers separate dog runs for large and small breeds.

After a fun afternoon in the sun, Canine Commons offers a wash-down area as well as drinking fountains and picnic areas.

It’s a Dog’s World; We’re Just Sharing It

Are Taylor Morrison and other homebuilders going too far in their pooch-pampering ways? Not according to dog owners.

After all, these companies wouldn’t be creating all of these features unless they helped to sell homes.
